A beautiful Etruscan Revival brooch from the 1880s, set with a large, richly patterned malachite cabochon.
The stone is framed in 18ct gold with applied rope and beadwork detail around the edge, inspired by ancient goldsmithing.
The brooch is large, measuring approximately 5cm across, and has both a pin fitting and a concealed bale on the reverse, so it can be worn as either a brooch or pendant.
The gold tests as 18 carat, and the workmanship suggests English origin, around the 1880s.
Available exclusively at ELTONS, specialists in antique jewellery London.
