Elton Antique Jewellery is a family run company; curators of rare and coveted antique jewellery since 1976
Jo founded Elton Antique Jewellery in 1976. Since then she has curated and sold the finest pieces of antique jewellery; often travelling the world (and London!) to seek out 'one of a kind' pieces of age and beauty. She has been driven by a fascination in the precision, individuality, resilience and timeless beauty of jewellery craftsmanship over the past 300 years.
Jo sees each piece of jewellery as a small work of art from the past and gets immense joy from seeing people wearing a piece of jewellery from her collection.; bridging the gap between the old and the new.
Jo spent her childhood in India, Sierra Leone and Kenya, moving to London when she was 17 years old. Her experience of over 40 years in buying and selling antique jewellery saw her become a familiar face in the markets of Camden Passage, Bermondsey, Portobello, Brick Lane and Cutler Street.
In 1976 she founded Elton Antique Jewellery and the rest as they say is history.
Jo's son Piers grew up with his mother's business, surrounded by beautiful pieces of antique jewellery. He spent much of his school holidays in his mother's shop intrigued by the intricacies of precious stones and their settings. He developed a keen eye for spotting the unusual and unique, laying the foundation for his future expertise.
Before long, Piers was helping his mother in seeking out rare one of a kind pieces, whilst always keeping a sharp eye out for beautiful antique engagement rings. He now considers antique jewellery his path in life. His favourite eras are Art Deco and the modern decades of the 60's, 70's and 80's.He lives in Queens Park with his wife facialist Una Brennan.
In the relaxed atmosphere of their shop in Grays Antique Centre in the centre of London, Jo and Piers present to you their curation of coveted and timeless antique jewellery. We love spending time helping our customers find just the right piece for them.
Our collection is comprised of classic and unique pieces that date from the 18th century through the 1930s and onwards. Every vintage piece of jewellery that enters our cases is carefully studied and vetted for authenticity of age and materials inspiring you to wear jewellery in a way that is timelessly modern.
We are here because we love these storied pieces and are fascinated by their resilience. Our jewellery tells the story of things past and we delight in bridging the gap between old and new.
