This Victorian gold locket was made in Britain around 1880 and is crafted in solid 15ct gold, a carat unique to the era and no longer in use today.
One side shows a detailed floral design, carefully engraved by hand, with leaves and petals that catch the light beautifully.
The other side features a bold blue enamel monogram, likely the original owner’s initials, in an intricate intertwined design.
Measuring 4.5cm tall (including the bail) and 3cm wide, it’s a generously sized piece that feels weighty and well made.
The gold has that soft, warm tone typical of genuine antique 15ct, and the enamel is in excellent condition for its age.
It’s rare to find a piece like this where both the engraving and enamel are so well preserved.
This locket would have been a personal item, something meaningful, not mass-produced, and it still carries that sense of story.
Whether worn as a pendant or simply kept as a keepsake, it’s a beautiful example of everyday Victorian jewellery at its best: thoughtful, detailed, and made to last.
Available exclusively at ELTONS, Grays Antique Market, Mayfair, London.
