This beautifully detailed locket was made in England in the 1880s, crafted in rich 15 carat gold and designed in the Etruscan Revival style that was so admired in the late Victorian period.
At its centre is a raised dome set with vibrant cabochon turquoise, surrounded by concentric turquoise rows and accented with tiny rose-cut diamonds.
The goldwork is intricate, with fine beading and granulation that echo the classical styles that inspired jewellers of the time.
The back opens to reveal a hidden compartment for a miniature or keepsake, and the gold has developed a lovely soft patina over time.
It measures 2.6cm across and comes in its original fitted box made by Hancocks of London — a prestigious jeweller known for excellence and royal commissions.
A piece full of character, craftsmanship, and quiet history.
Chain not included.
Available exclusively at ELTONS, Grays Antique Market, Mayfair, London.
