This remarkable pendant necklace by Amy Sandheim is a quiet triumph of the British Arts & Crafts movement.
Made in the 1930s, it combines the velvety depth of lapis lazuli with the soft glow of moonstone.
A sculptural teardrop of lapis anchors the piece, set in intricately worked silver and crowned with moonstone cabochons that seem to float in place.
The original 100cm handmade chain is equally considered, long, graceful, and threaded with silver details and additional lapis and moonstone accents.
It reflects Sandheim’s love of using materials left slightly wild.
It is exceptionally rare to find a Sandheim pendant complete with its original silver chain, especially in such fine condition.
These chains were not generic; they were individually crafted to complement each pendant’s scale and design, forming a cohesive whole.
Over time, many were separated or lost, but this example has survived intact, with its craftsmanship and detail beautifully preserved.
Available exclusively at ELTONS, Grays Antique Market, Mayfair, London.
