This distinctive English ring, made in the 1930s, is a beautifully preserved example of the Arts and Crafts movement, designed and hallmarked by celebrated jeweller Bernard Instone (9ct & SILVER BI).
Set with a glowing carnelian cabochon, the ring combines cool silver floral detailing with a warm 9ct gold band, creating a thoughtful contrast that reflects the movement’s emphasis on natural materials and honest craftsmanship.
The ring size is M, and the smooth carnelian, deep red with subtle translucence, is framed by a hand-worked silver surround of stylised leaves and petals, a nod to Instone’s lifelong connection to nature.
Bernard Instone was born in Kings Norton in 1891 and trained under Arthur Gaskin at the Birmingham School of Jewellery. By the 1930s, his work had become a defining voice within British Arts and Crafts jewellery.
Measures approximately 2.8cm x 2.8cm.
Available exclusively at ELTONS, Grays Antique Market, Mayfair, London.
